CROWN CASTLE
Increasing brand awareness, rehabilitating reputation, and building key relationships.
Our Client: Crown Castle Inc. is a leading provider of shared communications infrastructure in the United States. The company owns, operates, and leases more than 40,000 cell towers and approximately 85,000 miles of fiber supporting small cells and fiber solutions across every major U.S. market. The company focuses on enabling mobile data usage and supporting the deployment of next-generation wireless technologies, including 5G. They provide critical infrastructure that supports data transmission for mobile operators, wireless carriers, and broadband services, contributing significantly to the telecommunications landscape in the U.S.
Our Challenge: Crown Castle is the nation’s largest provider of telecommunications infrastructure, supplying cell towers, fiber, and small cells that large carriers across the country use to provide 5G to customers. The company established an office in San Diego in order to have a larger presence in the city. Although Crown Castle had been installing infrastructure throughout San Diego for a number of years, there was a lack of both government and public engagement that culminated in a poor relationship between the city and Crown Castle.
Our Approach: Crown Castle was asked to consult with Mayor Todd Gloria’s new 5G task force, leading to a significant decrease in the backlog of permits with the city and county.
Our Results: JCI developed strong relationships between the San Diego Crown Castle team and key government officials. We secured memberships and name recognition with key organizations such as San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, Circulate SD, and East County Chamber of Commerce, and helped Crown Castle land two successful Connected by Good partnerships with Computers2Kids San Diego and RISE San Diego.
