Jacob Carter

Associate

Jacob’s professional background in advocacy and communications comes from his extensive experience as a community organizer, public relations specialist, and outreach coordinator for nonprofits in conservation and political fundraising. At JCI, he supports client goals through research, media outreach and copywriting while also elevating JCI’s visibility and presence online.

Prior to joining JCI, Jacob spent a year interning at ActBlue, a national fundraising nonprofit, where he assisted in strategic outreach, data analysis and account management for Democratic candidates and organizations across 17 states. Jacob further developed his public relations aptitude during his internship with Curator PR who exposed him to a variety of industry verticals including broadband, fintech, banking, gaming, construction and air travel. Jacob was responsible for drafting press releases, compiling fact sheets and media lists, identifying award opportunities and monitoring client media coverage.

As an Associate, Jacob is excited to grow his network in California while advancing his expertise in advocacy and nonprofit communications. His ultimate goal is to become a formidable advocate in policy spaces at the local level, specifically in conservation and urban planning.

Jacob is pursuing his Master’s in Public Administration at USC with a certificate in public policy advocacy. He graduated with two Bachelors of Science in Sociology and Strategic Communication from Northern Arizona University in May 2023. Jacob had the opportunity to represent the undergraduate student body as an elected Senator, then Senate Chair and eventually as Vice President of Government Affairs. During his time in student government, he successfully led campus-wide movements that raised the minimum wage for student workers, secured a commitment for 2030 carbon neutrality by the university president, and donated almost $13,000 to fully endow NAU’s only LGBTQIA+ scholarship. Outside of work and school, Jacob balances his time as a book lover and video gamer with his responsibilities as a dog dad.
