FRONTIER

Our Client: Frontier, a prominent telecommunications broadband provider in the U.S., is committed to bridging the digital divide and extending broadband fiber services to unserved and underserved locations in its footprint throughout the United States.

Our Challenge: Recognizing the need for local engagement and community outreach to support its Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program, Frontier tasked JCI with assisting them in helping to secure federal and state grant funding in the State of California for further fiber deployment.

Our Approach: JCI formulated a comprehensive strategy that began with an in-depth analysis of governmental structures in California at the city, county, and state levels. This research laid the foundation for understanding the regulatory landscape, potential funding sources, and key decision-makers involved in telecommunications and broadband initiatives. Leveraging its extensive network in California, JCI strategically set up meetings with key stakeholders at various levels of government to garner support for Frontier’s expansion ambitions. There has been a keen focus on working with key counties in the State to gain their support for Frontier’s broadband expansion efforts as they pursue grant dollars.

Our Results: JCI was able to obtain well over one hundred and fifty (150) letters of support for Frontier’s federal funding account (FFA) applications filed with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). These letters of support from state legislators, local government and others have provided the necessary showing of community support for Frontier’s plans to bring fiber broadband to unserved and underserved communities.
