Dakota Goodman

Account Executive

As an Account Executive at JCI Worldwide, Dakota Goodman supports strategic communications and cross-sector public affairs campaigns.

Dakota brings a strong interdisciplinary background in social and cause-based communications from her education and previous professional roles. She spent time in Washington D.C. interning with the United States House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee. Additionally, she has worked with various grassroots organizations and nonprofits. Dakota previously contributed to Friends of the River’s Urban Rivers campaign. Based on her experience with diverse stakeholder engagement, Dakota believes that storytelling is an important communication method for bridging gaps in understanding and bringing together differing stakeholder groups. As a solutions-oriented problem solver, she views various formats of storytelling as tools for shedding light on multiple perspectives and finding fair solutions or compromises to polarizing issues.

Dakota holds a B.A. in History, with an interdisciplinary minor in Human Rights, and an emphasis in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. She also holds a B.S. in Society and Environment from the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, Dakota holds an M.S. in Water Resources, with a focus on Law, Management, and Policy from the University of Idaho. She brings a unique skill set from her M.S. degree rooted in knowledge of Environmental Personhood and Traditional Knowledge systems. Lastly, Dakota holds a MCM, Master of Communication Management with a focus in Marketing Communications from the University of Southern California, Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. From her background in academia, she brings strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, along with experience creating integrated marketing plans, strategic corporate communication plans, and brand advertising. Dakota molded her academic career around the idea that interdisciplinary understanding and knowledge allows for more robust innovation of well-rounded ideas.

Outside of work, Dakota enjoys engaging in a range of activities which include pilates, allergy friendly cooking, reading, and spending time outdoors hiking, climbing, and rafting.
