'Tis the Season!


JCI would like to share some ways you can give back this holiday season. From opportunities to serve meals or donating to bring holiday cheer to a family in need, we’ve compiled some ways to give back this holiday season. See below for opportunities to support your community, as well as several fun holiday activities to do in Los Angeles County.

Toy Drives and Volunteer Opportunities

Sat. 12/18 Aquarium Holidays - Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach

Guests who bring a new, unwrapped toy valued at $15 or more to be donated to the Long Beach Fire Department’s Spark of Love Toy Drive will receive a coupon for $7 off adult/child admission (up to 4 coupons per family). Aquarium members will receive a complimentary Aquarium admission ticket for each toy donated (maximum of 6).

Make an online financial donation or send gift cards to families at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The office of the Los Angeles District Attorney has established the District Attorney’s Victim’s Assistance Fund to benefit victims of crime and their families by providing holiday gifts, meals and other methods of support.

There are various projects, including mailings, donor and client outreach, assembling gift bags for events, decorating client birthday bags or meal delivery bags, making Feed Bead bracelets, packaging Project Angel Food’s Do Gooding Good Cookies, and countless other tasks requiring nimble and creative hands.

Hollywood Food Coalition invited volunteers to help prep community meals that include chopping vegetables and fruits, packaging food items, and helping clean.

Alexandria House is currently looking for volunteers to help with their Christmas distribution by driving to pick-up gifts from different school/organization drives and deliver to their office and/or other needed locations. They are also looking for volunteers to help with distribution/pick-up from their office. Volunteers are required to be vaccinated and show proof of vaccination to their Volunteer Coordinator. Holiday Activities in Los Angeles County

A holiday pop up market with an ugly holiday sweater contest, fun dog activities, vendors, refreshments, photo ops, raffle and prizes!

Sat. 12/18 Aquarium Holidays - Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach

Featuring photo opportunity with Santa, Hanukkah storytelling and dreidel playing. Guests who wear an ugly holiday sweater will receive $7 off admission upon request.

Sun. 12/19 Holiday Spectacular - Pico Rivera Towne Center

Featuring holiday-themed kid's crafts, take-home photos with Santa, face painting, balloon art, and more!

A walk-through of the Los Angeles Zoo with dazzling light displays and light show.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are hosting a Holiday Festival in Centerfield Plaza, the warning track, and both bullpens complete with nightly entertainment, an ice skating rink, scenic and light displays, holiday-themed food and beverage, and an opportunity to take photos with Santa!

In between Victorian home tours, piano sing-alongs, strolls through a light tunnel and sips on hot chocolate, mulled wine and craft beer, you can catch screenings of flicks (showing twice each night, at 6 and 8pm) like Elf, Home Alone, A Christmas Carol and more.
