
Daniel Pearl Foundation: Music Day
The Daniel Pearl Foundation was created in early 2002 in memory of slain
Wall Street Journalist Daniel Pearl, who spread a message of tolerance
through his music and writing. JCI worked with the Foundation to create
and publicize the first and most recent Daniel Pearl World Music Day.
This event, now in its third year, has become a worldwide success in
spreading its message of peace and tolerance. Some of the highlights
included:

Musicians, writers, and performers created
over 200 events in over 30 countries around the world. |

Over 700 media articles and broadcast segments were
seen around the globe. |

Ground-breaking PSA created by JCI, featuring Sir Elton
John, were broadcast in 20 countries, even in the Arab world on the

Two years in a row the Today Show and CNN broadcasted
special segments naming
Daniel Pearl and his legacy. |

Symphonies and orchestras from US cities such as Los
Angeles, Boston, Chicago,
and Atlanta paid tribute to Daniel and his idea of a tolerant global community
through concerts. |

World famous performers involved in Music Day included
Barbra Streisand, Yo-Yo
Ma, Herbie Hancock, John Williams, Yefim Bronfman, Salman Ahmad, Itzhak Pearlman,
and Sir Elton John. |
JCI is thrilled to have contributed so much to the expansion
of the Daniel Pearl Foundation with the planning of this special event,
and will continue to support the Foundation through public relations.
